Cold Summits: Winter Hiking

Hiking Colorado’s highest peaks in Winter is a different animal. Snow, ice, high wind, and of course bitter cold pose significant risks. On a recent trip to the summit of Torrey’s Peak via Kelso ridge I encountered mixed conditions requiring ice axe, crampons, and a healthy dose of common sense.
Summit temperature: 10F

Some interesting low clouds hugging the terrain…

I’m visiting RMNP in the first week of April and would like to spend a couple of days hiking near Bears Lake or close to Longs Peak. I arrive in Denver on the 2nd April, ready to go on the 3 or 4th for a week. Is anybody going to that area and would like some campany for a (winter-spring)hike?
