Culebra Peak: Final 14er

     Climbed Culebra Peak (14,047′) on Saturday 8/8/2009 completing the 55 officially ranked Colorado Fourteeners (Roach, “Colorado’s 14ers”, 2nd Ed.).
     My girlfriend Megan Fischbach joined me for the 7-mile roundtrip hike.  Culebra Peak is located on the Cielo Vista Ranch, a 77,000 acre private ranch.  The ranch owner(s) were kind enough to let a small group of us climb the peak.  It’s a beautiful place – with significant geographical relief in the San Luis valley.   
     The weather was sunny but very windy.  40-mph wind gusts were common making it feel like temps were in the 20s.
